Punjab Govt to Launch Online Portal for Building Plans & Certifications Taking another step towards ease of doing business, the Chief Secretary Punjab, Jawwad Rafique Malik, recently approved the launch of a Building Plans Online Portal for more than 450 metropolitan corporations and local bodies to fast track the issuance of building plans, land-use conversion plans, and completion certificates. Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will start the development of the Building Plans Online Portal from next week. Once implemented, concerned authorities will be required to approve building plans and grant building completion certificates to commercial, residential, semi-commercial, and industrial structures within 30 days. Besides, a land-use conversion plan will be approved in 45 days while a development plan for private housing schemes will be approved within 60 days after applying. Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 690 With Support for 5G & 120Hz Displays Qualcomm has announced its first Snapdragon 600 series SoC with 5G support. The new Snapdragon 690 is a successor to the SD 675 and is built on an 8nm process. It has been announced as Qualcomm’s effort to make 5G more affordable worldwide. The chipset is paired with an X51 modem and it supports SA, NSA, and global 5G bands if they are sub 6GHz. Qualcomm has not included mmWave support, which is going to be limited to the higher end 700 and 800 series SoCs like the SD865 and 765G. The Snapdragon 690 promises 20% better CPU performance and 60% faster graphics performance compared to the Snapdragon 675. It is capable of HDR video recording of up to 4K 30 FPS and still images of up to 192MP resolution. A new video enhancement feature improves data management by selectively enhancing moving parts of a video in lower bandwidth situations to maximize data saving. Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Will be in Short Supply After Announcement Samsung’s next Galaxy Fold is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Note 20 at the company’s Unpacked event. However, unlike the new Note series, it seems that the Galaxy Fold 2 will not be available after its announcement. This is because the Galaxy Fold 2’s software is far from being finalized as the development process has not reached the first version of its bootloader yet. This is not the case for the new Galaxy Note devices. Additionally, another source claims that the production for the Galaxy Fold 2 will start in August instead of July. This means that retail units will hit stores in late August or in September but even then the supply will be limited. This is because Samsung is facing supply constraints for the Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), a crucial component for the device’s foldable screen.
